Amaru Zoológico Bioparque (Amaru Zoo), Cuenca.
My Mom, I, and my 2 younger brothers went to Amaru zoo today, Sunday Jun 25, 2017 using local buses. You can take bus no. 16 all the way until Hospital Del Rio, cross the double highways, and hike for about 600 meters.
The zoo was nothing like I'd been to, some of the animals were getting out of their cages. One of the macaws even bit my youngest brother! There weren't just macaws, but there are also ducks and parrots too! The monkeys were roaming around freely, and would try to steal your food...
There were a lot of skulls, and a life-size photo of a black rhino with a statement saying that they went extinct in 2014.
Some of the animals were rescued. They used to be hurt.
The only thing separating the ocelot from us was a chicken wire. It was growling at us. We were a bit scared.
